YOUNG LOVE
I wish there was a lake I could sink right into. Maybe it could wash away this heaviness. But the time that it could take to mend this broken heart is greater than the weight of all that we forgot.
Lets drive down to the lot, the one we went and bought, the one that made us think that it could ever be enough to save us.
I can’t recall the shape of your arms circling ‘round or remember the last time I saw your face above the ground. But for 20-something years we hardly lived at all. I would never leave, and you would never call.
What happened to the lot, the one we went and bought, the one that made us think that it could ever be enough to save us?
Oh, young love didn’t want to wait...visions of a house upon a lake...
Were all that I could see when you stood next to me the day you drove us home. It seems so long ago from this cold stormy shore that we’ve been fighting for. It took so long to see that maybe this could be enough to save us.

ROOM TO GROW
Please forgive me for intruding on your perfect façade. I’m not here to make ripples in the water, all I need is a moment to explain.
What went wrong was there was nothing wrong with all the things we never dared to say out loud. We got lost and got caught between the vacant looks and silence. I was too brave. You were too proud. You pulled me close, I drove away, so I don’t expect you to hear what I need to say.
But you were the one I thought I’d never live without until I realized I knew nothing about myself. How could I just give everything away to you when I’ve got so much more to do? I had to let you go. Now I have room to grow.
Please forgive me for returning. It’s been a while since we last met. You can cut me out again, cotterize your broken scars, but I’m not quite finished yet.
Did you ever think outside your perfect box, outside the solid lines that keep you in your place? If you had you would have seen me leaving long before I’d left. You’d have noticed every line upon my face. Go on and think what you think of me. I won’t be back again, I’m done with apologies.

LETTING GO
We said we’d stand forever and, fearless, face the wind. But it’s getting cold and I’m breaking. I tried my best to bend.
I’ve learned that the telephone won’t save me no matter how tightly I hold it. Up ‘til now all that we’ve had are a few short weeks.
So let me let go of your hand. What is meant to be will be in the end. And I hope - with all my heart - you’ll understand. Please, understand.
There was a time when I wasn’t afraid of eternity, but forever is such a long time, and it’s even longer at 19. I know I changed my answer a million times. And I’m sorry, so sorry to say this, but I’ve made up my mind.
Let me let go of your hand. One day you will see this is for the best. And I hope - with all my heart - you’ll understand. Please, understand.
